Pop-culture worlds are about to collide in what could be one of the best mash-ups in some time.
The wizards of Springfield have cast Daniel Radcliffe in next year’s installment of “Treehouse of Horror,” reports EW. (Talk about planning ahead. Isn’t it Thanksgiving?)
In the spoof, Radcliffe will play a young vampire named Edmund. Sound familiar?
It also looks like Lisa will be the Bella in this ‘Simpsons’ spin on the ‘Twilight’ obsession, which means the two will fall in love — much to the chagrin of the kids’ dads. Homer vs. Dracula? Bring it on!
“Daniel was very excited to do ‘The Simpsons,’” exec producer Al Jean told EW. “And we kept trying to ask him for secrets from the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ movie until we realized that they were all in the books,” he joked.
The popular Halloween specials started back in 1990 during the show’s second season. Some of the best ‘Treehouse of Horror’ episodes have been spoofs of films, including ‘Nightmare on Elm Street,’ ‘The Shining,’ and ‘Citizen Kane.’
Even ‘Harry Potter’ received the ‘Simpsons’ treatment in a 2001 segment of “Treehouse of Horror XII” called “Wiz Kids,” complete with a Mr. Burns version of Lord Voldermort called Lord Montymort.
Radcliffe is just the latest celeb to lend his voice to a yellow character on the long-running animated series, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
