Slow and steady wins the race, they say, and The Blind Side has started the Oscar race for Sandra Bullock, and support is slowly starting to build. Pete Hammond from The Envelope, the Oscar oddsmakers, has come out in support of Bullock’s performance as headstrong Memphis designer Leigh Anne Tuohy being her Erin Brockovich, i.e. an inspiring true-life story that resonates with audiences, as indicated by its $34.6 million opening weekend even in the face of the Twilight mania. Personally, I’ve always thought Bullock or any other actress could have played Julia Roberts’ role in that film and grabbed that Best Actress award for it, and now she seems to be getting her chance to prove that by playing another awe-inspiring woman.
