Regis Philbin To Return As Guest Host Of ‘Millionaire’

Former ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire‘ host Regis Philbin will sit in for Meredith Vieira as a guest host of the syndicated version of the show.

Last week, Philbin announced on ‘Live With Regis and Kelly’ that he would be taking about four to six weeks off his morning hosting duties to get his hip replaced. His scheduled surgery is set for December 1.

But this week came word that he will act as temporary host of the weekday edition of ‘Millionaire’ from November 30 to December 4. Philbin has already taped his appearance on the show.

The daytime king was the original host of the primetime edition of ‘Millionaire’ starting in 1999, before the show went into syndication with Vieira. He later served as the host of ‘Who Wants To Be A Super Millionaire,’ and won a 2003 Emmy for “Outstanding Game Show Host.”
