Forget Adam Lambert. Another former ‘American Idol’ is in the news this week.
Fantasia Barrino is returning to her reality TV roots with a new series, ‘Fantasia for Real,’ which kicks off January 11 on VH1. The docu-series will focus on all aspects of Fantasia’s life, including her career, motherhood, and the obstacles she faced following her ‘Idol’ win in 2004. Eight episodes have been shot.
Since her time on the singing competition, 24-year-old Barrino has garnered eight Grammy Award nominations, released two albums and starred on Broadway’s ‘The Color Purple’ (She is reportedly set to star in Oprah Winfrey’s film remake). In 2006, Barrino starred in a Lifetime original movie based on her life, ‘Life Is Not a Fairy Tale: The Fantasia Barrino Story.’
But the reality star has also been in the spotlight for some rather naughty activities. She allegedly dated (and moved in with) a married father of two in November 2009 and ran into financial difficulties in 2008 when her $1.1 million home was in danger of foreclosure.
