Ethan Zohn is living up to his ‘Survivor’ title.

The winner of ‘Survivor: Africa‘ says his cancer is in remission.

Zohn announced the health update in a video update on People.com:

“I just got news from the doctor that my pet scan is negative, so after chemo therapy didn’t work, and 25 radiation blasts, now the pet scan is negative, which means the cancer is in remission. That means I can start the next step, which hopefully means a stem cell transplant.”

“It’s one of the best feelings in the world,” a choked-up Zohn adds.

The first thing he did after hearing the good news? Made an emotional call to mom.

Zohn, 35, was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease called CD20-positive Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May. After months of treatment, he thought he’d beaten it but learned in September that the cancer had returned, more aggressive than before.

Fancast has been following the ‘Survivor’s’ cancer battle in our exclusive series with Zohn’s longtime girlfriend (and fellow ‘Survivor’ winner) Jenna Morasca. Make sure to check back here for Jenna’s latest update on Ethan’s condition.

We’ll find out who the next ‘Survivor’ title goes to Sunday night in the two-hour season finale. Get scoop on tonight’s penultimate episode, Player Power Rankings, and more on our special ‘Survivor’ feature page.
