Limited Release: Crazy Heart, Nine, Young Victoria

Here’s what’s opening in selected cities this weekend, and as David Letterman always says, we just pray to God your city has been selected. It’s a slew of Golden Globe nominees, including the hotly-anticipated musical Nine, the regal period piece The Young Victoria, and the hard-life-on-the-road story Crazy Heart. Take a closer look at each of these films below.

Jeff Bridges scored a Best Actor nomination at the Golden Globes for his performance as a hard-living country music rebel named Bad Blake, who’s convinced he’s on the road to ruin before he forges an odd friendship with a journalist (Maggie Gyllenhaal) trying to unearth the man behind the legend.

Up for a slew of Golden Globes is Chicago director Rob Marshall’s newest musical extravaganza, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as a struggling filmmaker trying to juggle the many women in his life, including Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson and Sophia Loren.

Also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress is Emily Blunt for her portrayal of Queen Victoria of England struggling through the early years of her reign, as well as the beginnings of her long-standing love affair with Prince Albert (Rupert Friend).
