‘The Boondocks’ Will Return for Third Season

‘The Boondocks’ will return for its anticipated third season.

According to its creator, Aaron McGruder, the afrocentric animated series, which as been on hiatus for two years, will be back on TV in 2010.

“Finally got an airdate for Season 3,” McGruder broadcast via Twitter. “Not sure if I’m allowed to put it out yet, so I’ll just say you got about three months! Merry Xmas!!”

Based on McGruder’s syndicated cartoon, the series focuses on an African-American family that has moved from Chicago to the Washington, D.C. suburbs.

There is no word on whether ‘The Boondocks,’ which last aired in the spring of 2008, will return to the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim or move to another network.
