Opening Today: Legion, Tooth Fairy, Extraordinary Measures

Opening in theaters nationwide today are three very different films. The lovely and talented Julie Andrews stars as the boss of the lovely and talented Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the family film The Tooth Fairy, Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser work around the clock to discover a cure for a child’s terminal illness in Extraordinary Measures, and Paul Bettany has a double-shot weekend on both sides of the evolution debate – starring as the archangel Michael in a the big-time action movie Legion, and as Charles Darwin himself alongside his real-life wife Jennifer Connelly in the indie drama Creation, which opens in selected cities today as well.

Paul Bettany stars as the Archangel Michael, who is on a mission to defend humanity from the wrath of God, once the Almighty decides that humanity is a failed experiment that must be eliminated from existence. He has to join with a rag-tag group of humans to fight off the Archangel Gabriel’s swarm of angelic annihilators.

Dwayne Johnson stars as a ruthless minor-league hockey player who earned the nickname “Tooth Fairy” by busting up opposing players’ orthodonture, and his hobby is crushing the hopes and dreams of wide-eyed children thanks to his own bitterness about his career. When he does it to his girlfriend Ashley Judd’s son, he’s sentenced to serve time as a real-live tooth fairy, under the iron thumb of head fairy Julie Andrews.
