‘Jersey Shore’ Party Turns Violent

There’s nothing quite like the ‘Jersey Shore‘ cast to get the party started.

Unfortunately, they may have overdone it during a Friday night party at a New Jersey bar, which quickly turned violent.

Close to 2,000 people attended a special event at the 501 Lounge in Montclair, New Jersey, for a “meet and greet” with Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola, Jenni ‘J-Woww’ Farley and other ‘Jersey Shore’ juice-heads. However, the venue’s capacity was capped at only 800 people.

Chaos ensued when several fans were unable to get into the event, and police reported fights among the crowd and minor injuries. Four people were arrested for disorderly conduct and driving while intoxicated, reported the Star-Ledger.

“They had crowds much larger than they could control,” said Montclair police chief, David Sabagh. “They had 600 upstairs, 200 to 300 downstairs and 400 outside. … There were fights inside and fights outside.”

Police ended up closing down a nearby thoroughfare for two hours.

“I don’t know another reality show that has had this sort of impact,” Jwoww later said to the Chicago Tribune blog. “Maybe ‘The Osbournes?’ ”

The ‘Shore’ drew a big wave of ratings success for its first-season finale Thursday night, with a record-breaking 4.8 million viewers and a 30 percent increase from last week’s episode. The audience has more than tripled since the series made its controversial debut in December.
