For its third season (Monday 10 pm, FX), ‘Damages’ returns with its own twisted take of the Bernie Madoff story. It also has star Glenn Close’s character, the cutthroat Patty Hewes, picking up from last season’s shocking finale involving a gun! A stabbing! And Ellen (Rose Byrne) parting ways with Patty.
Despite Patty’s season ending “she’ll be back” speech, this season we find Ellen busting drug lords – and their petty criminal friends – at the D.A.’s office. But the allure of returning to the gilded halls of Hewes & Associates may prove all too unavoidable for little Miss Parsons, as executive producer Glenn Kessler hinted.
“We’ve been showing you that they do stay in each others lives for two seasons and now in the third season we’re going to start to reveal perhaps why,” he said, adding “that’s why we’re talking about getting back into their motivations. The second half of the season starts to show you more of that. Hopefully by that point you’ll start to have more of an understanding of why.”
Executive producers Glenn Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Todd A. Kessler – all affectionately referred to as “KZK” – paused from their busy production schedule to fill Fancast readers in on what else is store this season for Patty, Tom (Tate Donovan), Ellen , and the rest of the spanking new ensemble cast, including Len Cariou, Campbell Scott, Martin Short , and the lovely Lily Tomlin.
