Rush Limbaugh’s Medical Mystery

Rush Limbaugh is still unsure about what caused his heart scare back in December, but he sure thought it was “the big one.”

The conservative talk-show host, who was hospitalized over New Year’s with chest pains while on a Hawaiian vacation, says he did not actually have a heart attack – and that the medical issue is still a mystery.

“I’ve never experienced that kind of pain before and I’ve always wondered what it felt like,” he told People magazine Wednesday in Las Vegas, where he’s in town to judge the 2010 Miss America Pageant.

“We still don’t know what it was that happened,” he added. “I got an angiogram and the doctors were stunned because there was no blockage, there was no arterial disease or coronary disease.… They think it was an infection that caused an arterial spasm.”

But Limbaugh says he’s feeling okay now and there is no reason to worry. “Everything is fine,” he announced.

Limbaugh has had other health problems in the past. He lost most of his hearing due to an autoimmune disorder of the ear, which forces him to utilize an electronic hearing aid.

In 2003, Limbaugh revealed that he was addicted to pain medicine and entered rehab.

The 2010 Miss America Pageant airs Saturday at 8 p.m. on TLC.
