Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams Announce “Mission: Impossible IV”

Get ready for more big time ‘splosions and rubber mask skullduggery. Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams have announced today that they’re teaming up to produce Mission: Impossible IV, the latest installment in the venerable superspy action franchise based on the classic television series. They’re still looking to name a director, but screenplay work is being done already. Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt, although you’ll have to wait until the planned release date of Memorial Day 2011. No word yet on whether or not Ving Rhames will be back, but let’s hope he does, and let’s hope they let him be super-awesome for once.

In case you forgot what happened in Mission: Impossible III – and let’s face it, you probably have – check out these reminders.
