Celebrity chef Rachael Ray is “grief-stricken” after her dog was involved in a vicious attack and bit off another dog’s ear.

Ray is terrified her beloved pet may have to be put to sleep. The pit bull has had five other incidents of attacking dogs – including one where Ray was injured while trying to intervene.

In this latest incident, the talk-show host’s red-and-white pit bull Isaboo, who has appeared on her show, attacked the other dog while the host was out walking him on the streets of New York City’s Greenwich Village in early February.

“As the other dog walked by, Isaboo lashed out so quickly and ripped the other dog’s ear off before its handler could pull it away,” said an onlooker. Thankfully, a vet was able to re-attach the poor pup’s ear, reports Radaronline.

Ray and her husband, attorney John Cusimano, offered to pay for the injured animal’s medical bills and any additional costs, but the foodie is still very much worried about the fate of her ‘baby.’

“Rachael calls Isaboo her ‘baby,’ but after the latest dog fight, she’s living in fear that her pet will have to be put down,” said the source. “While she loves the dog, she can’t help worrying about what would happen if Isaboo attacked a person.”

Rachael is the host of ‘30 Minute Meals‘ on Food Network and the syndicated daytime talker, ‘Rachael Ray‘ show.

She’s also heavily involved in charity organizations that support animal welfare.
