Watch: ‘We Are The World: 25 for Haiti” (Also Available On Demand From Comcast)

Starting February 13, Comcast continues its support of Haitian relief efforts with a multi-platform release of the updated version of “We Are the World: 25 for Haiti.” The charity single will be provided in HD on Fancast XFINITYTV (watch below) and On Demand in SD and HD . Charged with emotion and visually spectacular, it’s a chance to see music’s biggest stars as they lent their voices to the global relief effort. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the human spirit with us; 100% of your purchase goes to the We Are The World Foundation.

Teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber kicks off the recording, which also includes Jennifer Hudson, Kanye West, Fergie, Miley, Cyrus, Barbra Streisand, Celine DionNick Jonas, Adam Levine, and Josh Groban. A three-minute video of the charity single directed by Oscar-winner Paul Haggis debuted Friday during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Another 7-minute version with moving film footage from Haiti is On Demand.

Twenty-five years ago music’s biggest stars gathered inside studio A at A&M studios and recorded ‘We Are The World,” a song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, whose intentions, like those lending their voices, was to raise money for African famine relief.  It was called “rock’s finest hour” – and the song became the bestselling single of all time and raised $63 million. (On its release, the new version immediately topped iTunes.) A clip of Jackson from the original session is included in the latest video. “He had to be there,” said Richie.
