Maggie Grace, whose Shannon was conspicuously absent from ‘Lost‘s reunion-y February 2nd premiere, will return to the ABC series before its final season has wrapped.
‘Lost’ bosses Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confirmed the return for EW.com’s Jeff “Doc” Jensen, with Cuse saying, “We’re really excited about having her back on the show, and we have a good story for her.”
Rumors of Grace joining TV brother Ian Somerhalder and other since-departed original cast members for encores surfaced last summer, when the actress revealed she would soon be en route to Hawaii. That trip was purely for pleasure, though, and Grace was unavailable to shoot scenes for the season premiere, which introduced an alternate/parallel reality in which Flight 815 did not crash.
To account for Shannon’s absence, Boone told Locke that he was unable to talk his sister into bailing on her abusive Aussie beau.
Just last week, I asked Terry O’Quinn (Locke/Smokey) about Grace’s MIA status. “I’m not sure she’s prepared or willing to come back,” he said. “But I’d love to see her again, too.”
After being killed off of ‘Lost’ in the November 2005 episode “What Kate Did,” Grace made one other appearance, in March 2007’s “Expose.” Since then, she has kept busy with roles in such films as ‘The Jane Austen Book Club’ and ‘Taken.’
