What appears to be a never-ending story, ‘Family Guy‘s swipe at Sarah Palin and her son with Down syndrome, gained more attention this weekend following show creator Seth MacFarlane’s appearance on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher.’

“I saved my Sarah Palin virginity for you,” MacFarlane joked with Maher before finally addressing the ‘Family Guy’ controversy by highlighting actress Andrea Fay Friedman’s comments printed in the New York Times.

Pointing out that Palin has no sense of humor, MacFarlane blasted the former governor of Alaska for her public outrage over the use of a Down syndrome character on his Fox show, and said Friedman did not appreciate Palin’s using the cartoon footage to inspire “phony pity.”

“She’s the queen of fake outrage,” barked Maher in reference to Palin, before pointing out similar attacks toward David Letterman after the late-night host joked about her daughter.

As for the taboo nature of ‘Family Guy’s’ joke, Maher supported MacFarlane’s sense of humor.

“Because of people like Sarah Palin, the country has become so stupid, we need the word retarded to constantly describe what is going on in America,” he joked.
