Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant
Straight-laced Darren (Chris Massoglia) and troubled loner Steve (Josh Hutcherson) are high school friends who find themselves invited to a mysterious freak show. When Darren steals ringmaster and vampire Larten Crepsley’s (John C. Reilly) talented spider and it poisons Steve, Darren allows himself to be converted to vampirism by Crepsley in exchange for saving Steve’s life. But Steve has always been obsessed with vampires and is jealous of Darren’s new life with the peaceful commune of freaks run by Crepsley and his beloved Madame Truska (Salma Hayek) – so much so that he joins the side of the evil vampires – the Vampanese, who relish their power and enjoy killing their prey. Thus the two friends are now bitter enemies on opposite sides of a vampire war orchestrated by the corpulent Mr. Destiny (Michael Cerveris).
