Jason Mesnick made history as the first ‘Bachelor‘ to marry. Mesnick said, ‘I Do,’ to Molly Malaney in a not-so-private wedding took place Saturday at the Terranea Resort on the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
Despite rainy skies, the couple tied the knot in a fifteen-minute outdoor ceremony in front of approximately 300 guests–including Mesnick’s 5-year-old son Ty. Malaney walked down the 200 ft. aisle in a $45,000 strapless Monique Lhuillier gown, while ‘American Idol’s Jason Castro sang ‘Over the Rainbow,’ according to People.
Some of the show’s past stars were on hand to toast the happy couple, including Trista and Ryan Sutter, who also got married on TV, along with ‘The Bachelorette‘s Jillian Harris and fiancé Ed Swiderski, DeAnna Pappas, Jesse Csinsak and Kiptyn Locke.
Unlike most season finales of ‘The Bachelor,’ Mesnick, 33, and Malaney, 25, didn’t get engaged on the show. In fact, if you recall, the Season 13 ‘Bachelor’s original choice was Melissa Rycroft, with whom he later dumped on the ‘After the Final Rose’ special. He confessed that he made a mistake and should have chosen Molly.
The couple began a long-distance relationship – she was in Milwaukee and he lives in Seattle. Then, just four months ago, he proposed while they were vacationing in New Zealand.
ABC will air the nuptials March 8 in a two-hour special, ‘The Bachelor: Jason and Molly’s Wedding,’ with Chris Harrison as the host.
