“My, what great casting you have….”

Felicia Day, who is well-loved by fans of the Joss Whedonverse from her roles on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’ ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog‘ and ‘Dollhouse,’ has landed the lead in ‘Red,’ Syfy’s reimagining of the Little Red Riding Hood story.

As Red, Day will play a werewolf-hunting descendant of Little Red Riding Hood who is forced to make a difficult choice when her fiancé is nipped by a lycanthrope. Kavan Smith (‘Stargate Atlantis’) and Stephen McHattie (‘Watchmen’) also star.

Slated for a 2011 premiere, ‘Red’ is part of Syfy’s Saturday movie series serving up edgy iterations of fairy tales, legends and pop culture characters. The lineup kicked off last month with Estella Warren in ‘Beauty and the Beasts,’ and will also tackle Aladdin, Sinbad, and Hansel and Gretel.

Day currently stars in ‘The Guild,’ an award-winning webisode series that she also created and wrote.
