Kate Gosselin is an octo-mom on a mission. The embattled reality star is taking her upcoming turn on ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ very seriously.
“There’s going to be 3 to 6 a.m. practices and 9 p.m. to midnight practices,” says Gosselin. “Being home taking care of my kids because I’m the primary care taker there is very little extra time for anything else.”
Gosselin, 34, is paired with professional dancer Tony Dovolani, who nearly nabbed his first mirror ball trophy last season with another embattled reality star, ‘Bachelor’ castoff Melissa Rycroft.
“My wife loves Kate,” says Dovolani, who has his own set of twins. “She’s so excited that I have her as a partner.”

Gosselin doesn’t exactly have a leg up on the competition. She’ll be competing against former ‘Baywatch’ babe Pamela Anderson, ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ alum Shannen Doherty, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and ‘Bachelor’ star Jake Pavelka. Not to mention frontrunner Olympic skater Evan Lysacek.
“If I last two weeks on the show, I’ve shown my kids that hard work and perseverance pays off,” Gosselin told People Magazine. “And if I don’t win, I’ve shown them you don’t always have to come in first. You just have to keep trying.”

The fact that she has never been a dancer or that dancing isn’t her forte doesn’t factor into the equation for the world’s most famous mother of eight. “I’ve gotta kill this,” Gosselin tells Us Weekly. “I do want to win.”
Even though a practice dance floor has been built in the basement of the family’s Pa. home, Kate did recently spend two weeks away training with Tony. Us Weekly claims Kate’s eight kids, particularly twins Cara and Maddy, “seem depressed when Kate isn’t around,” an inside source tells them, asking the nannies “When’s mommy coming home?”
Only time–and America’s votes–will tell, kids.
The new season of ‘DWTS’ kicks off March 22 on ABC.
