Here’s a really odd development. Back when Garry Marshall’s Valentine’s Day came out, the director hinted that he wanted to bring his classic sitcom Laverne and Shirley back for modern-day movie audiences, and that his V-Day stars Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner would be perfect for the roles made famous by Cindy Williams and his sister Penny Marshall. In today’s movie business, that’s not so strange.
The surprising bit is that now Marshall says that another V-Day star, Jamie Foxx, is actually in the process of writing that movie. Sure, Foxx has TV-writing experience, but it’s strange to think the Academy Award winning actor would take time out to write this movie. “It’s a whole different modern day take on how they came up on the streets during difficult times,” Marshall said. “Laverne would be this very tough girl with a big ‘L’ tattooed on her arm. Jennifer Garner would play Laverne and Jessica Biel would play Shirley.” He also said that secret roles would be written in for Penny and Cindy as well.
How strange is that? Maybe Foxx really hit it off with Biel in Valentine’s Day. Check out this clip of the two of them playing off each other.
