Twitter’s “DizzyFeet” – aka Nigel Lythgoe – is keeping ‘So You Think You Can Dance‘ fans on their feet by parsing out big changes for the Fox’s hit’s upcoming season.
The latest bombshell from his keyboard: “The competitors will no longer choose their genres of dance. I’ll explain everything before the SYTYCD Press Conference on Monday!”
We should hope so!
The judge and executive producer first got ‘Dance’ fans talking on Wednesday, when he shared via Twitter that in Season 7, “Only one dancer will leave the competition each week and not two”
The immediate question stemming from that reveal is: How will the show accommodate an odd-numbered group of dancers in alternate weeks? Will someone go solo? Get a “bye”? Or will one group be a trio?
The following day, Nigel revealed that “partners will change every single week,” whereas typically the pairings are locked in for the last several rounds of the competition.
While that twist promises to make the dance-offs a bit more unpredictable, it robs viewers of seeing chemistry develop between two dancers over the course of time.
Lythgoe then teased another rule change that “will shock you” – and here it is: “This Season will not have a Top 20,” he shared Friday morning on Twitter. “The pieces are falling into place,” he added.
What does Nigel mean, that the Top 20 is gone? To be replaced by a Top 10? A Top Nothing?
Surely all will be revealed on or around ‘So You Think You Can Dance’s May 27th season premiere.
