In ‘Saved By Zeroes,’ Rosenbaum and Jonathan Silverman (‘Weekend at Bernie’s’) will play two former stars of a canceled sci-fi show who are now laboring to get their careers back on track, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Rosenbaum says he got his inspiration for the show from, of course, his own experience on ‘Smallville,’ and he likens ‘Zeroes’ to ‘Galaxy Quest’ meets ‘Eastbound & Down.’
“Through drugs and drinking, [these guys] didn’t save money and, years later, the only thing they have left are the conventions [and] their loyal, devoted fans,” says Rosenbaum. “It’s the ‘Non-tourage.’ We’re the losers you want to see back on top.”
Although Syfy’s slate is largely dramatic, the cabler has been endeavoring to add comedic properties a la ‘Warehouse 13.’
“It helps us counterprogram and bring in younger audiences,” says Syfy senior VP Andrew Plotkin.
Thus far, ‘Saved By Zeroes’ has received a script order.
