The cast of ‘Blossom,’ the series that made hats, shirts with the sleeves cut off, and the word “Whoa!” trendy, is reuniting on the April 25th episode of the Fox comedy ‘Til Death,’ a Fox rep confirms to Fancast.
Blossom herself, Mayim Bialik, Jenna Von Oy (Blossom’s best friend Six), and Michael Stoyanov (Anthony, Blossom’s oldest brother, who left midway through the series), will be playing themselves in a group therapy scene. Series heartthrob Joey Lawrence (Blossom’s brother Joey) was not available, so an actor named Gary Shapiro will assume the role of “fake Joey.”
Here’s the scenario: All season ‘Til Death’s Doug (Tim Sharpp) has been convinced that he is trapped in a sitcom. Bialik has been playing a fictionalized version of herself as his therapist Dr. Bialik — a role inspired by Bialik’s real-life PhD in neuroscience. On the April 25th episode, Dr. Bialik hopes to cure Doug by bringing him in for a group therapy session with all of her former ‘Blossom’ costars.
“It was really fun,” Bialik said of the reunion. “There were people I knew very well that I had not seen in years.”
The idea came from ‘Til Death’s executive producer Don Reo, who created ‘Blossom.’ Be sure to tune in for all of the meta jokes and 1990s references you can handle. With any luck someone will figure out how to slip in: “In my opinionation the sun is gonna surely shine.”
