The Duggars rushed their micropreemie back to the hospital around 3 a.m. Thursday night, when Josie’s vital signs unexpectedly dropped. Fortifiers added to her mother’s breast milk to help spur growth led to constipation for the still fragile baby, and that caused Josie’s vitals to fluctuate.
“She’s doing fine now,” says Jim Bob of the tough tyke, who is listed in stable condition. “They will watch her for a few days to make sure she’s safe.”
Josie Duggar is the 19th addition to the Duggar clan of TLC’s ‘19 Kids and Counting,’ who was born three months premature, weighing just 1 pound, 6 ounces. Josie was delivered early via C-section because mom Michelle, 42, suffered from preeclampsia, a condition during pregnancy that causes high blood pressure.
“The doctor told us never to trust a preemie,” says Jim Bob. “That is really true.”
Today little Josie weighs in at 4 lbs., 12.5 ounces.
“Currently, Josie is healthy and in stable condition; we hope to have her back with the family in the next few days.” the family said to Us Weekly. “As always, our entire family is grateful for the continued prayers and support.”
