Another ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ results show, and another shocker.
The shocker? Kate Gosselin is safe for another week.
I know what you’re thinking. What the heck is going on? Who’s voting for her? All I can figure is that maybe her ex, Jon Gosselin, has their eight kids dialing nonstop to keep Mom on the show. It helps his child custody case. Or maybe we were right and Kate’s so-bad-it’s-funny dancing is really just entertaining enough, in an archly funny way, that America wants to keep watching. Either way, TV’s most famous real life mom will be battling the other stars, her partner and herself next week.
As for tonight’s elimation, well, the bottom three included Kate, ‘Clean House’ host Niecy Nash and former ‘All My Children’ star Aiden Turner. In the end, Aiden was sent home. Speculation off-camera had it the British actor lacked the recognition to get votes. Aiden was gracious in his departure and said he worked extremely hard and had a good time.
“Each week I came out here, I gave it my all,” he said. “I got less nervous dancing in front of a live audience. And, last night i had the best time dancing with Edyta. I wasn’t so nervous. I just had a great time like there was no one here, it was just us two.” His departure got a rare standing ovation.
We have a feeling Turner’s partner Edyta Silwinska knew they were going home. “You were kind of unstable,” she said to him before the results were announced. “Emotionally stable. Technically unstable.”
In an odd twist, co-host Tom Bergeron said to Niecy and Aiden, “You’re not necessarily the bottom two.” What? Do explain that more, Tom.
Best reaction of the night? Jake Pavelka’s gleeful laughter when it was announced that he was safe. Also worthy of playback: NFL star Chad Ochocino, who first hugged it out with Jake and then rushed to partner Cheryl Burke’s side to plant one on her cheek.
Speaking of kisses, later that night, TMZ cameras caught up with Aiden and asked about the curious kiss he placed on Edyta’s chest at the end of their sexy Rumba during Monday’s performance show. ‘The gossip show’s roving cameramen asked if he “motor-boated” his partner (look it up, if you don’t know what we mean). He quickly said, “No!,” explaining that he meant to kiss her neck and that in rehearsal when they landed in that spot, they were lined up differently and he simply he missed her neck, kissing her chest instead.
We wondered why Nicole Scherzinger was upset after scoring in the stratosphere. She answered the question on air.
“This is me. I’m an artist,” she told viewers. “I’m not like other people. This is how I’ve always been. I really care about everything that I do.” She later told co-host Brooke Burke that she was “upset about her performance” and that she let her nerves get the best of her. “I was just really frustrated with myself,” she said.
Skater Evan Lysacek has gotten better and more confident each week. He scored a 52 this week. Is he popular enough to go all the way? Mmmmm…..
Judge Len Goodman chose Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood for the encore dance. Bravo. She was our choice, too – just to see if she could do that split two nights in a row. She did.
Pamela and Damian are quickly catching up to Nicole and Derek in all fronts in this competition – from talent to popularity. In fact, we’d say one of the pairs will knock Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya out of the top spot next week.
Last night, Sade Sade sang her hit “The Sweetest Taboo.”
Next week, the couples will dance to iconic songs from the movies. We’re wondering what song Kate will be assigned. Was there a song from the movie ‘Mommy Dearest’?
