Bret Michaels has been released from the San Antonio, Texas hospital he has been in since early Monday morning for emergency appendectomy surgery.
The Poison rocker, ‘Celebrity Apprentice‘ front-fronner, and Fancast exclusive blogger has been moved to an undisclosed private care facility that specializes in the rehabilitation of diabetic patients, his reps confirm today. As, we know, Michaels has Type 1 Diabetes. He is playing for the National Diabetes Association on ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ and we should be finding out in the next episode if his daughter Raine has diabetes or not.
“While the surgery went well and doctors are optimistic that the rocker will make a full recovery, the fact that he was exhausted due to his rigorous schedule prior to the surgery and coupled with the fact that he has diabetes, the surgery has taken its toll. Even for non diabetic patients the recovery from surgery can be long and painful. Doctors were amazed at how good of health Bret was in being a 47-year-old diabetic. However the main focus and concern right now is that he is able to rest, recover and maintain good blood sugar levels while doing so,” says his rep.
As of today, Michaels’ tour dates (his “Roses & Thorns” solo shows, not with Poison) are cancelled through April 24 at least and new dates should be posted on his website (bretmichaels.com) shortly. “It is unclear at this time exactly how many of Michaels tour dates will have to be moved,” says the rep.
Bret Michaels’ cancelled tour dates include:
April 16, The Lucky Star Casino, Clinton, Oka.
April 17, State Farm Arena, Hidalgo, Texas
April 21, Sweet Caroline’s, Winchester, Va.
April 23, Neumeier’s Rib Room, Ft. Smith, Ark.
April 24, Belterra Resort and Casino, Florence, Ind.
