Oprah Winfrey Responds to Tell-All, Dismisses ‘So-Called Biography’

It was only a matter of time before Oprah Winfrey spoke up in regard to Kitty Kelly’s biography about the media giant now on book shelves, and as could have probably been expected, Winfrey isn’t planning on holding it close to her chest anytime soon.

Longtime friend Gayle King was the topic that brought Winfrey to discuss Kelley’s book, which she dismissed as a “so-called biography” during a speaking engagement in New York Monday, according to People.

“Last week was a rough week for Gayle when a so-called biography came out,” Winfrey told the New York audience. “Every day she’s getting herself more and more worked up about all of my new daddies that are now showing up. new daddies who are saying, ‘Hello daughter, call me, I need a new roof.’ Well, this too shall pass.”

King’s “rough week” came from the book’s claim that Kelley knows the identity of Winfrey’s father, a secret that hasn’t been made public.

As Newsweek points out, at least King wasn’t forced to deal with the continuation of rumors that she and Winfrey are lesbian lovers, something that Kelley writes there is “no foundation” for.
