Sometimes the best cure for narrowly missing the finals on ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ is just a swig of cold bubbly.
When Lisa Rinna was eliminated in the next-to-last round of ‘DWTS’ back in the show’s second season in 2005-06, she said she hit the backstage for a little boozing.
“Probably when I was kicked off, basically, and we were all crying, and we went back to the dressing room and drank a bottle of champagne, commiserating and just reliving our memories – it was a positive moment,” Rinna told Fancast at a recent anniversary party of her store Belle Gray in Sherman Oaks, Calif. She and husband Harry Hamlin were shooting scenes for their TV Land reality show, ‘Harry Loves Lisa,’ premiering in October.
An enthusiastic competitor, Rinna, who was paired with Louis van Amstel, was voted off the show in a somewhat controversial ending, despite having higher technical marks than finalist Jerry Rice.
Hamlin appeared on ‘DWTS’ the following season, but his stint was more short-lived. Paired with Ashly DelGrosso, Hamlin was eliminated in the show’s third week – after Tucker Carlson and Shanna Moakler.
“My time on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ was very short and only somewhat memorable,” Hamlin says. “But my most memorable moment was walking by the green room and hearing a couple people going at it like crazy behind the locked door.”
“No names, no names,” Hamlin says.
For the record, other cast members that season included Mario Lopez, Monique Coleman, Willa Ford, Joey Lawrence, Emmitt Smith, Sara Evans – and Jerry Springer.
