Alec Baldwin will tie Steve Martin for the honor of ‘Saturday Night Live’s most turned-to host when he seizes the reins for the season finale airing May 15.

At that point, Baldwin and Martin – coincidentally, this year’s Academy Awards cohosts – will each have fronted the sketch show 15 times.

Baldwin revealed his latest ‘SNL’ gig on the red carpet at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner. NBC is not confirming the booking, however.

‘SNL’ Host Betty White Says Nope to Dope Jokes

’30 Rock’ star Baldwin is one of ‘SNL’s most reliable hosts, to be sure. In past visits to the show has created such memorable characters as Pete Schweddy and a scandalous scout master, and delivered fabulous impersonations of Charles Nelson Reilly and Robert DeNiro.

And yes, maybe ‘SNL’ wants to guarantee a strong finish this season, which has endured such miscast hosts as January Jones.

Still, a part of us has to wonder, “Alec Baldwin… again?” So often is he called upon to host, it feels like this is his second time hitting the stage this season alone. (The facts, however, prove February 14, 2009 to be his last turn at the plate.)

Gabourey Sidibe Is Not ‘Precious’ on ‘SNL,’ But She’s Pretty Funny

What we wouldn’t give to see ‘Breaking Bad’ boy Bryan Cranston get a crack at ‘SNL,’ or ‘Modern Family’ man Ty Burrell. Or, dare we even utter the idea: Jane Lynch?!

Well, there’s always Season 36.
