What To Watch: Thursday

TOP PICK:The Vampire Diaries‘ (8pm ET on The CW)

Thursdays are insanely crowded night on my DVR, but this is the show to watch live tonight. Why? Because it’s the season finale and fireworks are going off, death is coming to Mystic Falls, and this show knows how to move storylines and not waste any time!

Founder’s Day has finally arrived, and everyone is busy with last-minute preparations for floats and fireworks. Stefan is uncomfortable with Damon’s new attitude toward Elena, but Elena is more concerned about repairing her relationship with Jeremy. Although Damon and Alaric do their best to stop him, Johnathan Gilbert sets a plan in motion that brings Founder’s Day to an end amid chaos, destruction and death.

KEY EPISODE:Private Practice‘ (10pm ET on ABC)

The Grim Reaper turns up in Santa Monica too, as we say farewell to one of our favorites that’s been on the show since the beginning in tonight’s season finale. Smart money is on Dell, who has been conspicuously absent for much of the season, and is also signed onto a new pilot for the Fall.

Maya and her unborn baby are fighting for their lives on the operating table, and Addison, Amelia and Fife try everything humanly possible to save them. Meanwhile, Sam operates on an incoming crash victim and later makes a grim discovery; Cooper makes an ill-timed but valiant effort with Charlotte, and the staff’s world gets rocked by an unexpected death.

WATCH:Fringe‘ (9pm ET on Fox)

Wowza!! After last week’s stunning appearance of Walter from “the other side” and the promo for tonight’s show that showed a dark-haired, alterna-universe Olivia, I can barely wait for tonight’s part one of the season finale. And as a bonus, Spock (er, Leonard Nimoy) is back too.

In part one of the two-part, two-night second season finale, Walter and Olivia travel to the parallel universe, and the anticipated face-off between Walter Bishop and William Bell occurs when special guest star Leonard Nimoy returns.

DVR:Supernatural‘ (9pm ET on The CW)

All season long has been building to tonight and the looming Apocalypse between our boys the Winchesters, Satan and Michael the archangel. But hey, as long as there’s nothing BIG on the line…

The entire season has been leading up to this showdown between good and evil. With the Apocalypse looming, Sam and Dean realize they are out of options and make heart-breaking decisions that will change their lives forever. A beloved character is killed.

DVR:Community‘ (8pm ET on NBC)

If you’re not in the mood for all the seriously good drama i’ve recommended tonight, check out this freshman comedy that has only gotten better week-to-week and features the dynamic duo of Joel McHale and Chevy Chase.

After the shocking discovery that Senor Chang does not have a teaching degree, Greendale Community College is forced to bring in a new Spanish teacher. Meanwhile, Troy discovers a trade he truly excels in — plumbing.
