NBC has high hopes for 'The Event,' in which Jason Ritter unwittingly pokes a stick at a government conspiracy.

And… they’re off! Upfront Week has begun, with NBC the first to reveal its game plan for the 2010-11 TV season – and it includes no fewer than 13 new shows, eight of which will debut in the fall.

As reported by Variety, the Peacock has the action-drama ‘The Event‘ (starring ‘Joan Of Arcadia’s Jason Ritter) hopefully bringing big buzz to Mondays, J.J. Abrams’ ‘Undercovers’ and the new ‘Law & Order: Los Angeles‘ bookending Wednesdays, and ‘Parks & Recreation’ enjoying some recreation until midseason to make way for the comedy ‘Outsourced.’ As a result, ’30 Rock’ is moving to the 8:30 slot.

Come midseason, NBC will premiere the superhero drama ‘The Cape,’ the ensemble comedies ‘Friends With Benefits’ and ‘Perfect Couples,’ David E. Kelley’s ‘Harry’s Law,’ and the ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’-esque ‘Paul Reiser Show.’ ‘The Marriage Ref’ is also expected to return at some point, as is ‘Friday Night Lights’ with its fifth and final season.

NBC’s fall schedule is below, followed by snapshot summaries of the new fare and then a recap of what’s been canceled.

8/7c ‘Chuck’
9/8c ‘The Event’ [new]
10/9c ‘Chase’ [new]

What’s new: ‘The Event’ stars Jason Ritter as an ordinary Joe who in the course of investigating his fiancee’s disappearance begins to cover a massive U.S. government cover-up; ‘Dirty Sexy’ Blair Underwood plays the President of the United States. ‘Chase‘ comes to us from überproducer Jerry Bruckheimer and follows a team of U.S. marshals.

8/7c ‘The Biggest Loser’
10/9c ‘Parenthood’

What’s new: Nada.

8/7c ‘Undercovers’ [new]
9/8c ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’
10/9c ‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ aka ‘LOLA’ [new]

What’s new: One of the fall’s most awaited new shows, J.J. Abrams’ ‘Undercovers’ finds married and retired spies (‘Soul Food’s Boris Kodjoe and ‘Doctor Who’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw) getting pulled back into the game when a case hits close to home. ‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ is precisely what the name implies, and hopes to dazzle us enough that we forget that 1) the original ‘L&O’ isn’t coming back and 2) ‘SVU’ has been shuttled back to 9 o’clock.

8/7c ‘Community’
8:30/7:30c ’30 Rock’
9/8c ‘The Office’
9:30/8:30c ‘Outsourced’ [new]
10/9c ‘Love Bites [new]

What’s new: ‘Outsourced’ follows the middle manager of a novelty toy manufactuer who is relocated to the company’s call center in India; cue culture clashes! ‘Love Bites,’ from Emmy-winning ‘Sex and the City’ scribe Cindy Chupack, revolves around a trio of relationships; the cast includes Becki Newton (‘Ugly Betty’) and Jordana Spiro (‘My Boys’). ‘Parks & Rec’ won’t return until midseason, so ’30 Rock’ will claim its spot.

8/7c ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ / ‘School Pride’ [new]
9/8c ‘Dateline’
10/9c ‘Outlaw’ [new]

What’s new: Produced by Cheryl Hines (‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’), ‘School Pride’ is being described as ‘Extreme Makeover: School Edition.’ ‘Outlaw’ stars former ‘L.A. Law’yer Jimmy Smits as a Supreme Court justice who leaves the bench to start up his own law firm.

It’s so cute that you’re looking here. But yeah… this is the night for repeats.

7/6c ‘Football Night In America’
8:15/7:15c ‘NBC Sunday Night Football’

SUNDAY (starting March 2011)
7/6c ‘Dateline’
8/7c ‘Minute To Win It’
9/8c ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’

CANCELED NBC SHOWS:Heroes‘ (see related story) ‘Law & Order‘ (see story), ‘Mercy’ and ‘Trauma.’ Oh, and ‘The Jay Leno Show.’ (How could we forget?)
