Sunday night’s season finale of ‘Desperate Housewives‘ may not have been the most exciting close in the show’s history, but it sure tied up a few loose ends and paved the way for an interesting seventh season next fall.

Coming and Going
The two big shockers of the night included welcoming, ahem, back a familiar face, while killing off another.

In a typically ‘explosive’ twist, Patrick (John Barrowman) dies in a car when the bomb he asked Angie (Drea de Matteo) to build detonates.

Then, as with many season enders, a new neighbor comes to town to rent the Delfino’s house and it’s someone we already know: Paul Young (Mark Moses), Mary Alice’s creepy husband. But shouldn’t he be in jail for murder? That’s one of the things that promises to be addressed next year.

Moses, who also stars on AMC’s ‘Mad Men‘ tells Entertainment Weekly that his character “was guilty of killing [Felicia’s] sister… but not of killing Felicia, who then disappeared [to frame him for her murder]. So if Felicia shows up, that exonerates Paul. And that’s probably why he’s out of prison. I don’t think he escaped.”

Now Back to the Ladies…
Lynette’s (Felicity Huffman) water breaks when Eddie (Josh Zuckerman) tells her that he’s the Wisteria strangler. This leads to the irony of Eddie then delivering Lynette’s baby and actually saving the newborn’s life after the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby’s neck. After a heart-to-heart, Eddie decides to turn himself in and let Lynette go.

Bree (Marcia Cross) is caught making yet another tough decision when Sam (Sam Page) blackmails her to give him her company. He knows what Andrew (Shawn Pyfrom) did to Mrs. Solis (you know, killed her with his car) and he threatens to turn him in. Orson (Kyle MacLachlan) had to pay for striking Mike with his car, so one would think Bree would make her son pay for his mistakes as well. This remains to be seen.

Although Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker) has a funny scene at the hospital, where she dons a New York accent to get Danny out, she’s pretty uneventful in this episode.

Nurse Pruitt is the lady with all the drama when she admits on her death bed that two babies who were born at Fairview Memorial were switched. Who could it be? This will definitely unravel next season.

New Beginnings
~After escaping from Patrick, Angie and Nick decide to let Danny go to New York to see Ana.

~Susan and Mike pack up their things and leave Wisteria Lane, vowing to one day be back.

~Lynette makes it home safe and sound with her newborn baby girl.
