Fox isn’t moving ‘American Idol‘ to a new time slot next year, as some had speculated in recent days, but refurbishing the show will be a top priority for the network. Addressing the network’s new fall schedule, Fox Chairman Peter Rice revealed next season’s Tuesday night performance show will be 90 minutes and Wednesday’s results show will be a tight 30 minutes. As for other ‘Idol’-related topics:

What If ‘Idol’s Results Show Moved To Thursdays?

“We’re aware the show is off, about 9 percent this year, but in comparison to other shows that’s actually pretty good,” said Rice. “We have to find a judge to replace Simon [Cowell] who provides both music credibility and entertainment value. These are things were going to have to work hard on during the summer, with the producers.

“The only thing that we’ve actually nailed down (is the shorter results show),” said Rice. ” The audience wants us to tighten up the results show and they want more performances, so that’s what we’ll give them next year.”

“We do have some time,” he said.
