You’ve Got B.O.: ‘Shrek’ Goes Out On Top

Shrek Forever After, supposedly the final chapter in the series, scored a big $71 million take at the box office to go out on top, although this fourth installment’s first weekend take is far lower than the previous two films managed ($108 million and $121.6 million, for the second and third films, respectively, the latter of which is still the record-holder for largest opening ever for an animated film). The SNL flick MacGruber, however, bombed rather harshly with only $4.1 million and a sixth place finish.

1. Shrek Forever After – $71.2m
2. Iron Man 2 – $26.6m
3. Robin Hood – $18.7m
4. Letters to Juliet – $9.1m
5. Just Wright – $4.2m
6. MacGruber – $4.1m
7. Date Night – $2.8m
8. A Nightmare on Elm Street – $2.2m
9. How to Train Your Dragon – $1.8m
10. Kites – $1m
