Being compared to an ugly spider doesn’t put ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ finalist Evan Lysacek in a tailspin. Not this Olympic skater.
Of his ‘Footloose’ freestyle dance, judge Bruno Tonioli quipped, “Evan, you went demented! I didn’t know if I was watching ‘Footloose’ or screw loose. You were jumping about. You looked like a bit of a tarantula.”
What does Evan have to say to that? “Whatever. They can say whatever they want. I have long arms and legs and sometimes I’m self-conscience about them so I try to keep them still, but tonight I didn’t care,” he told reporters backstage after Part 1 of the ‘DWTS’ season finale. “This is what I look like dancing and I put myself out there, and if they didn’t like it, I’m cool with that because I had fun.”
Personally, I did not think he looked like a tarantula, or that it deserved the lowest score of the night (a 24). He loosened up, just like the judges have been telling him to do all season.
“I’d do it again,” he says. “I would gladly do it again. I would stand there and let them rip it apart again because I really loved it. And I feel like they wanted me to let go and for the first time really let go.”
Evan and his partner Anna Trebunskaya revealed that if they make it to the top two on Tuesday’s finale, they will perform the Quick Step. “We wanted to be different and we didn’t think anyone would choose ballroom,” explains Evan of the choice.
