The heaviest contestant ever was named ‘The Biggest Loser‘ on Tuesday night’s season finale.
Michael Ventrella, a 31-year-old DJ from Chicago, was named the winner of Season 9 after losing 264 pounds! His starting weight was 526 pounds and after losing 50.2 percent of his total weight – he gained the $250,000 prize.
“I’m just freaking out right now!” he gushed to UsMagazine.com after the show. “I lost so much weight … I’m reborn. I have a new life. Everything that I do and I see and I taste and I feel and I experience is done for the first time.”
Before his final weigh in he gave a flower to his “motivation,” his mother Maria, who also competed and lost 114 pounds herself.
Koli Palu lost out in the fan vote to make the final three, but ended up winning the at-home weight loss prize of $100,000 by shedding 215 pounds for 53.35 percent weight loss.
Daris George was voted into the final three along with Ashley Johnston, who took second with a total loss of 183 pounds – 48.93 percent of her starting weight. Daris came in third by losing 168 pounds, 48.55 percent of his starting weight.
The finale also included the return of previous contestants, including Season 8’s Shay Sorrells, who was offered $1,000 for every pound she lost between last season’s finale and this year’s. She earned $52,000 from Jared the Subway guy – who left the check blank in the hopes of doubling it next year after she runs a marathon with him (hmmm…. Which Subway sandwich is best for carb loading?).
Previous winners Danny, Bill and Erik also came by, with Erik back to his slender self.
