Ricky Gervais will appear on HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm‘ next season, Variety reports.

The British funny man and improv vet will play himself in one episode, set to air late in Season 8.

‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Will Return for Eighth Season

Gervais’ bit of ‘Enthusiasm’ marks but his latest venture for HBO. To date, he has starred in ‘Extras‘ and the pay cabler renewed his animated ‘The Ricky Gervais Show‘ for a second season.

What’s more, HBO is thinking about picking up the BBC pilot ‘Life’s Too Short,’ which was cowritten by Gervais and frequent collaborator Stephen Merchant. ‘Short’ examines the life of a dwarf who works in showbiz, played by Warwick Davis (of the ‘Harry Potter’ films).

Ricky Gervais Booked Again to Host Golden Globes

Elsewhere on the dial, Gervais hosted this year’s Golden Globe Awards – and will repeat that job come 2011.
