Actress Amy Locane has been charged in a fatal drunk driving crash that killed a New Jersey woman Sunday night, reports the Star-Ledger.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday in Montgomery, N.J., when Locane’s SUV struck the passenger side of a vehicle as it was turning into a driveway. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver was flown to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The actress admitted to authorities she consumed several glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel. She was arrested for DUI at the scene and was taken to a different hospital for treatment, according to TMZ.

Locane, 38, was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto, and faces 5-10 years in prison if convicted. She is currently being held on $50,000 bail.

The former ‘Melrose Place’ actress was also involved in a hit-and-run before the deadly accident occurred, when her 2007 Chevy Tahoe collided with another car in Princeton, according to a statement from Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco, Jr.

A witness to the earlier crash reported to police that Locane was “swerving and knocking down several mailboxes.”

Locane is best known for her role on the TV show ‘Melrose Place‘ and for costarring in the 1990 Johnny Depp movie, ‘Cry Baby.’
