Best-selling author Anne Rice says that amidst “talks” of revisiting her ‘Vampire Chronicles’ series via a new Lestat film, she knows exactly who she’d like to see sink his teeth into the role previously portrayed by Brad Pitt.
“I’m loving Matt Bomer, and remain convinced that some day he would be a wonderful Louis de Pointe du Lac,” Rice shared on her Facebook fan page. “I mean if somebody has to follow Brad Pitt, it should be Matt Bomer.”
Outside of the ‘White Collar‘ star, Rice singled out no other casting picks, only adding that “we have many incredible actors right now who could play the roles of my vampires…. I see many choices for Lestat and Armand and Marius.” Tom Cruise played Lestat in 1994’s ‘Interview With the Vampire,’ while Antonio Banderas was Armand.
Rice though is ruling out encores from any of the original film’s players, nor does she see any of HBO’s bloodsuckers claiming roles.
“Actors currently in [HBO’s] ‘True Blood’ probably wouldn’t be considered,” she says, “as they’re already associated with other vampire material.”
Rice offered no time table for when a new Lestat film might see the light of day (so to speak). “There are definitely talks going on…. But it’s too early for me to say for certain what will happen,” she writes. “As soon as I do have news, I’ll post it.”
USA Network’s ‘White Collar’ premieres its second season on July 13.
