TV Land has announced a Season 2 pick-up of its first original scripted sitcom, ‘Hot in Cleveland,’ which premiered just last month.
Production on 20 new episodes – versus Season 1’s measly 10 – will commence in October, with an eye on a January 2011 launch.
What’s more, despite certain reservations that Betty White had expressed about committing anew to the grind of a weekly series, all four leads – White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick – are set to return as series regulars for the sophomore run.
“We are so excited that ‘Hot in Cleveland’ was embraced by viewers in such a big way,” TV Land president Larry W. Jones said in announcing the renewal. “We absolutely love the show and can’t wait to see what hilarious new experiences these characters will encounter in the next 20 episodes.”
‘Hot In Cleveland’ premiered to record ratings for the cabler, though the numbers later subsided to typical levels.
