The CBS spin-off ‘Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior‘ isn’t only borrowing some of the mothership’s name, it’s also snatching up one of its cast members.

Kirsten Vangsness, who as a series regular plays Garcia on ‘Criminal Minds,’ will fill the same role – and again, as a series regular – on ‘Suspect Behavior’ when it premieres midseason.

‘Criminal Minds’ Spin-Off Is Hot for Janeane Garofalo

“In reality, BAU teams share analysts, so it made sense for us to combine the positions on TV,” says ‘CM: SB’ exec producer Chris Mundy.

“On a personal note,” Mundy adds, “Kirsten is amazing, both personally and professionally. Her talent will make our new series that much better both on screen and behind the scenes.”

“I’m super excited to be invited onto the series,” Vangsness responded in a statement. “The cast is astounding and I love playing this character.”

Vangsness’ good fortune comes on the heels of some bad news for ‘Minds’ cast mate A.J. Cook, who will appear as JJ in only two episodes this coming season before being written off.

For ‘Criminal Minds’ Female Stars, Bad News/Good News

‘Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior,’ which was launched as an “embedded pilot” via a May episode of ‘Minds,’ also stars Forest Whitaker, Janeane Garofolo, Matt Ryan, Michael Kelly and Beau Garrett.
