The CW’s ‘Hellcats’ doesn’t debut until September 8, but already the new series is adding faces that should make its titular cheerleaders do a double take, if not a double back with a layout.

Premiere Dates for ‘Vampire Diaries’ and More CW Favorites

Jeff Hephner, who last played a cool con on The CW’s ‘Easy Money,’ has been cast in the recurring role of football coach Red Raymond, Fancast has learned exclusively.

Red is a celebrated Lancer University alumni who has returned home to give the football program a shot in the arm.

What’s more, the handsome rogue will give Hellcats cheer coach Vanessa (played by Sharon Leal) a jolt upon his arrival, seeing as they share a mysterious past. And mind you, Vanessa currently has something cooking with Hellcats trainer Derrick (played by ’24’s D.B. Woodside).

Hephner’s credits also include guest turns on shows such as ‘Drop Dead Diva,’ ‘Ghost Whisperer’ and four episodes of NBC’s ‘Mercy,’ where he played the fireman beau of Michelle Trachtenberg’s Chloe.
