That’s the advice Kathy Griffin has for Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
The war between ‘The View‘ co-host and the outrageous comedian escalated Monday when Hasselbeck called Griffin “scum” for referring to Sen. Scott Brown’s daughters as “prostitutes” on her show.
Hasselbeck thought the ‘D-List‘ comedian’s “joke” crossed the line.
In a heated exchange with Joy Behar, Hasselbeck said, “In general, if someone called your daughter a prostitute, would you think they’d be scum?” “I’d call them scum.”
Griffin responded to the insult, telling E!’s Marc Malkin that she loved it.
“Now I have to send Elisabeth Hasselbeck two muffin baskets because she confronted me when I was a guest on the show two weeks ago and then this morning she called me ‘scum,'” Griffin told E! Online at the ‘VH1 Do Something Awards’ in Hollywood Monday night. “I have to send two baskets because as a comedian, I’m loving it.”
Griffin also took a moment to put her offensive remark into context: “You have to remember that the genesis of that whole joke about Scott Brown was that when he won the election he famously said, ‘My two daughters are available,'” she explained. “Then he was called a ‘pimp’ in the Washington press … The bottom line is, lighten up!”
Then in her true no-holds-barred form, Griffin joked about how she really felt about it: “Suck it! As the great Bette Midler said, ‘F–k ’em if they can’t take a joke.'”
