‘SYTYCD’ Marks Another First: No One Goes Home

So You Think You Can Dance (FOX)

So You Think You Can Dance (FOX)

This season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance‘ is surely shaping up to be an interesting one. Three injuries in a row, and now another first — no one was eliminated this week.

That’s right, the judges simply could not eliminate Billy, who didn’t dance this week due to a knee injury and was automatically placed in the bottom three, and the remaining voted-in bottom three members, Robert and Jose. So they opted to not send anyone home this week and instead send two, count ’em two, dancers home next week.

“I don’t know what we could’ve done,” executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe explained us after the show. “I literally said to Mia, ‘Who’s going home this week?’ And Mia said, ‘Uh uh uh uh.’ ‘Adam, who’s going home this week?’ ‘Uh uh uh uh.'”

Mia continued, “We couldn’t figure it out. That’s what happened. It was weird. We were all stumped for different reasons for different people. I think it was an awesome decision.”

Was it just me or did Nigel’s on air comments about Billy’s choice to opt out of dancing raise an eyebrow? Mia shed some light: “I think that he is very educated and knows his body really well and he knows what he can and cannot do and I respect that. However, it’s tricky because it is a competition and he made a choice. That’s where we were coming at [because] then all these other dancers at one point can say, ‘Oh you know I’m going to take a week off.’ It doesn’t work like that.”

What do you think will happen next week? I think Nigel nailed it for us here: “In truth, Adechike, Kent and Lauren will probably be the finale three So you have to say that Robert, Billy and Jose are really going to have to step up if they’re gonna get in that three now,” he said.

Do you agree with Nigel? Will we see Kent, Adechike and Lauren in the finale? Hit the comments.
