The ‘Vampire Diaries‘ team unveiled a shocking trailer for the season two premiere at the show’s Comic-Con panel Saturday.   In about one minute, five spoilers were revealed.  Here is the scoop:

1. Damon tells Stefan that Katherine kissed him.
2. Elena tells Stefan that Katherine is back.
3. Katherine tells Damon that she never loved him
4. Katherine tells Stefan that she wants him back.  When he rejects her, she stabs him.  When he tells her that he hates her, she retorts that, “I hate you is the start of the love story, not the end of it.”

Until they unveiled the trailer at the end of the panel, Executive Producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec were quite tightlipped about spoilers.  The actors in attendance, Paul Wesley (Stefan), Nina Dobrev (Elena), Ian Sommerhalder (Damon), Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy) and Michael Trevino (Tyler) professed not to know what will happen next. With much prodding from the panel’s moderator, Marcos Siega, who directs most episodes of the show, they let a few things slip.

Jeremy is Alive… or at Least Undead. Williamson promises, “Jeremy is either going to wake up alive or wake up dead. But he will wake up.”There is a New Mayor. Plec: “Mrs. Lockwood (Susan Walters) is going to be stepping in as interim mayor.  She’s suddenly in much more of a power position than she used to be.”

Tyler Is A Teen Wolf Because of a Family Curse. Williamson: “If you’re fans of the books you know the Lockwood family has a family curse that Tyler doesn’t know about.  He’s going to spend the season learning what triggers it, why he has all this aggression and anger issues.  He’s going to come to understand who and what he is. ”  Tyler will get some help from his uncle, played by Taylor Kinney, who comes to Mystic Falls for the mayor’s funeral. Williamson revealed that the show will use a real wolf to play Tyler under the influence of a full moon. “When the curse is triggered, we’ll have the transformation. It won’t happen right away.”

Stefan Learns To Accept His Befanged State. Williamson: “The thing that’s interesting is that Stefan is wrestling with the good side of him and how he rejects it.  This year Stefan is finally accepting that he is a vampire.”

We’ll See Flashbacks From Katherine’s Point of View. Last season, Damon and Stefan flashed back to their time with Katherine in 1864.  Reveals Williamson, “There’s another side of the story we haven’t shown you.  We see Katherine’s side.  That’s the chapter this season.”

Other Tidbits:

Plec and Williamson refused to reveal whether Caroline (Candice Accola) would survive her car accident. Plec pointed out that if Caroline died, we would see a vengeful side of her mother, the sheriff.

Anna was supposed to be a smaller part of the first season but, said Williamson, “We loved her so much we expanded on her character.  If we do our job, and make the audience really care about her, we can make her death serve a greater purpose.”  He explained that seeing Anna get staked forced Damon to acknowledge his humanity.

The day before the panel, Nina Dobrev wrote Team Elena on Paul Wesley’s hand and Team Katherine on Ian Sommerhalder’s hand.

Wesley won the nice guy award when a fan asked for his name placard from the panel and he gave it to her.
