It’s official. HBO executives put the final nail in the ‘Entourage‘ coffin on Saturday when they announced that “next summer will be the final season” of the show.

“It will definitely be the final season of ‘Entourage,'” said President of Programming Michael Lombardo at the network’s Television Critics Association press session in Los Angeles. He said the plan is to probably do “about six” episodes for the show’s eighth and final season next summer.

Lombardo also confirmed that show creator Doug Ellin “clearly wants to write a film,” as Mark Wahlberg has previously discussed, but “when the storytelling makes senseā€¦. He is clearly thinking about how the show will end.”

Meanwhile, the network execs also announced that there are not one, but two, movie scripts in the works to finish telling the story of ‘The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.’

HBO Co-President Richard Plepler said that they are “possibly developing two scripts to do two movies” and there are plans to move forward “if we can get the cast together.”

“As a series,” added Lombardo, “this felt like a more comfortable and organic way for the storyline to continue.”

Do we even want big screen versions of ‘Entourage’ and ‘The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency?’ Eh. What do you think?
