‘The Price Is Right‘ wronged Shane Stirling, the former “Barker’s Beauty” showcase model claims in a lawsuit filed Friday.
According to court papers cited by TMZ, after Stirling notified ‘TPIR’ producers in December 2006 that she was pregnant, she was “forced into an early pregnancy leave [and] not allowed to return to work for almost a year after her child’s birth.”
Upon her eventual return in 2008 – at which point ‘TPIR’ was under new management and being hosted by Drew Carey – Stirling was told the show was “going in another direction” and she was “fired abruptly,” she alleges.
Stirling claims in her suit that Bob Barker, the show’s host at the time of her maternity leave, is partly to blame. Court papers allege that Barker “had always been very kind and generous to Stirling until he learned that she was pregnant.”
Stirling argues that had she been allowed back to work sooner, she “could have become acquainted with the new people working on the game show” and thus might have been able to hold onto her job. She seeks more than $25,000 in her suit.
‘TPIR’ has been hit with the buzzer before, under similar circumstances. In court papers filed in March, model Brandi Cochcran alleged that when she attempted to hide her pregnancy from producers in 2007, the stress was so severe “that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage.” Following a second, successful pregnancy, she got booted from her job in February of this year.
‘TPIR’ producer FremantleMedia had no comment on Stirling’s legal action.
