Newsflash: J.Lo is a diva.

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly out of the running to become a permanent judge on ‘American Idol,’ according to PEOPLE.

Lopez had been considered a frontrunner to fill one of two vacant seats on the singing competition’s judges panel, but negotiations with Fox have allegedly fallen apart.

How did Lopez blow it?

“Her demands got out of hand,” says an inside source. “Fox had just had enough.”

It’s true that network execs announced that no contracts to hire new judging talent were finalized, but most reports indicated the Lopez deal was all but done.

As for the other rumored replacement judge, there’s no update on the actual status of rocker Steven Tyler, despite the Aerosmith frontman’s totally official sounding “confirmation” that “a beautiful girl from Fox came up to me and made an offer.”

So while Jenny may have been knocked off the block, there is another diva who wants to face the music alongside last original judge standing, Randy Jackson: Mariah Carey is totally interested in the gig, dawg.

So says Carey’s husband Nick Cannon, who claims in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Mariah said she “would love to do that.”

Meanwhile, Kara DioGuardi is “disappointed” with how producers are handling the show’s overhaul of the judges’ panel, after the departures of Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres (and last year’s still-missed Paula Abdul).

DioGuardi hasn’t heard from producers about her future on the show and learned of the rumors that she might be getting canned by reading the news.

Now that’s hitting a sour note.

Do you think Jennifer Lopez lost out on a good opportunity? Or was the singer-actress not a good fit for the job in the first place? Do you still care about ‘Idol’?
