On the heels of the return of Brenda (Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo), ‘General Hospital‘ is bringing back another popular character from the 1990s.
According to TV Guide Magazine, Stone (Michael Sutton), Robin’s (Kimberly McCullough) first love who died of AIDS and transmitted the HIV virus to Robin, will appear in the September 28 and 29 episodes of the show.
The definitively dead character will appear to delirious Robin, who finds herself in a “physically perilous position.” *Spoiler Alert* Robin and her current husband Patrick (Jason Thompson) will separate after she learns that he cheated on her with Lisa (Brianna Brown). Rumor has it that Lisa will be murdered, and Robin will be a suspect. In the fantasy sequence, Robin and Stone will discuss their history and Robin will “gain closure.”
This is one short term stunt I am looking forward to watching. Robin and Stone’s relationship was groundbreaking in the 1990s. It was conceived as a contemporary spin on Romeo and Juliet that drove home the message that everyone is at risk for AIDS. It was one of the most moving storylines in GH’s history. It’s terrific that GH is now drawing inspiration from its golden era rather than ignoring it. Let’s hope the trip down memory lane inspires the show’s PTB to come up with some new storylines that are every bit as wonderful.
